Billed as the world's first "rock opera," Tommy is the story of a young boy who
witnesses a tragic event and loses his ability to see, hear and speak. While
his parents struggle to understand how to cure their son, Tommy is drawn to a
pinball machine and masters the game with only his sense of touch. An
overnight sensation, Tommy becomes a celebrity, a rock star, and a messiah.
Featuring hit songs like "Pinball Wizard," "Amazing Journey," "Sensation" and
"We're Not Gonna Take It,"
Tommy is regarded as one of the greatest rock
scores of all time and established a new genre of music.
Tommy was released
on record May 23rd, 1969, nearly forty years to the date of Artistic
Differences’ concert. With direction by Eric Baldwin,
Tommy features local
performers Ian Cullity, Tevye Ditter, Nanci Zoppi, Michael RJ Campbell, Jerry
Lee, Joelle Wirth, Kelly Daniells and a supporting cast of over twenty five
singers, accompanied by an eight piece rock band led by Erik Daniells.
